Junior Achievement of Chicago was founded in 1940 and provides economic education programs at no cost to schools and students in the Chicago area.
2014 Annual Report:
Junior Achievement of Chicago had a great 2013-2014 school year. We reached more students than ever before, while also implementing new quality programs in our schools.
- Outreach: JA of Chicago reached 484,239 students in our 12-county outreach area in Chicago and the suburbs.
- Programs: We held our 3rd Annual JA You’re Hired! program, which provided students an inside look into the workforce, networking, and interviewing process. JA also provided more than $100,000 scholarships and awards to outstanding high school students.
- Events: We host several special events throughout the year to raise money to support our programs, as well as raise awareness about our mission.

JA is a not-for-profit tax-exempt corporation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is a publicly supported organization as defined by Sections 170(b) (1) (A) (vi) and 509 (a) (1) of the code. Contributions to Junior Achievement of Chicago are deductible for federal income tax purposes, limited to the excess of any money contributed by the donor over the value of the goods or services received.
